Job summary

The State of Florida’s Office of Insurance Regulation seeks a Financial Examiner/Analyst II to analyze the solvency and operations of insurers under Florida law. You will evaluate financial statements, reinsurance arrangements, and NAIC reporting, writing clear regulatory recommendations based on data and statutory guidance.

Ideal candidates possess strong analytical and communication skills, familiarity with GAAP, and the ability to manage multiple regulator‑driven tasks in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• This position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, risk management and insurance or actuarial science.
• Experience in insurance regulation, financial analysis, public accounting, or related insurance industry work is preferred.
• Applicants may be required to complete an exam or work sample to evaluate knowledge of statutes.

Responsibilities

• Perform in‑depth financial and operational analysis of insurers, focusing on solvency.
• Review annual/quarterly statements and evaluate reinsurance for compliance.
• Incorporate data from company filings, NAIC tools, and internal sources in analyses.
• Prepare written reports with findings and actionable recommendations for regulators.
• Coordinate with company executives and regulators on identified issues.
• Monitor risk indicators and ensure adherence to state statutes and NAIC guidelines.
• Develop industry knowledge and maintain professional designations as applicable.
• Lead or participate in regulatory projects and staff training when needed.
• Represent the department at public functions and respond to records requests.
