Job Summary
The Insurance Representative processes and monitors unpaid insurance accounts, including third-party, Medicare, Medicaid, or government-assisted programs, ensuring proper reimbursement. Responsibilities include understanding accounts throughout the revenue cycle, preparing and submitting claims electronically or by paper, securing necessary medical documentation, and performing account follow-up to resolve outstanding balances in compliance with regulations. The role requires staying updated on billing requirements, handling claim errors and denials, conducting trend analyses, and resolving payment issues.
Key duties also involve ensuring timely billing, accurately inputting data, maintaining professional communication, resolving billing complaints, and documenting all account contacts. Depending on location, tasks may include verifying demographics, setting up insurance, and obtaining missing information from patients or responsible parties.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-secondary courses in accounting, business, or communications are helpful. A minimum of six months' related work experience and essential computer skills are required. Leadership roles may require additional experience for internal applicants.
