Job Summary
The Insurance Representative processes and monitors unpaid third-party insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or other government-assisted program accounts for proper reimbursement. Responsibilities include understanding and managing accounts throughout the revenue cycle, preparing and submitting claims electronically or on paper, securing necessary medical documentation, and performing account follow-up on outstanding balances. The role requires compliance with federal and state regulations, staying updated on billing requirements, resolving denials, and conducting trend analyses and appeals for underpaid accounts. The representative handles difficult account situations and resolves issues delaying payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in billing processes.
The role also involves verifying demographics, identifying appropriate payers, setting up insurance, and contacting responsible parties to obtain missing information. Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring all claims meet compliance standards are essential. The position requires proficiency in computer systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to resolve billing complaints efficiently.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-secondary courses in accounting, business, or communications are advantageous. A minimum of six months' related work experience is required, along with essential computer skills. Leadership roles may require additional experience for internal applicants.
