Job summary

SiriusPoint in New York seeks an experienced Insurance Regulatory Counsel to provide legal and regulatory guidance, reporting to the VP, Associate General Counsel and Head of P&L Support, ensuring compliance with state and federal insurance laws.

The role includes reviewing statutes, advising on regulatory matters, coordinating filings, building regulator relationships, and guiding regulatory exams while collaborating with multiple departments for enterprise-wide compliance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. state.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance regulatory law.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal insurance laws and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze state insurance department statutes, regulations, and bulletins to stay current on changes and developments, determine new filing and regulatory requirements, and work with business partners to implement such changes.
• Provide legal advice and support on regulatory compliance matters, including subsidiary governance support.
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure regulatory compliance across the organization.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, including insurance holding company and UCAA filings.
• Build and maintain relationships with the company’s regulators.
• Lead the company’s efforts in preparing for and working through market conduct exams and other regulatory inquiries.
• Assist and support the Regulatory Reporting Team on licensing and other regulatory reporting matters.
