Position Overview
The Insurance Operations – Credentialing Specialist will support the credentialing team by gathering provider information and submitting credentialing applications to insurance companies. This individual will navigate multiple websites, databases, and insurance platforms to collect and verify provider information, accurately complete applications, and track progress using Google Sheets. The ideal candidate has previous healthcare administrative or credentialing experience, strong Excel/Google Sheets skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to learn new processes quickly.
Responsibilities Of The Insurance Operations – Credentialing Specialist
  • Navigate multiple healthcare, insurance, provider, and internal platforms to gather information required for credentialing.
  • Collect and verify provider information, including provider IDs, license types, specialties, practice locations, and other credentialing details.
  • Accurately complete and submit provider credentialing applications through various insurance company websites and platforms.
  • Track credentialing applications, outstanding information, progress, and issues using Google Sheets.
  • Perform high-volume data entry while maintaining a strong level of accuracy.
  • Research missing or unclear information across multiple systems and identify the appropriate source of truth.
  • Navigate insurance company websites and contact insurance companies by phone when additional information is required.
  • Escalate issues, roadblocks, and application challenges to the appropriate internal team.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of completed work and outstanding items.
  • Learn and apply healthcare and insurance terminology, including in-network/out-of-network status, provider specialties, and license types.
  • Manage a high volume of repetitive, detail-oriented credentialing tasks efficiently.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding progress, workload, and challenges.
  • Adapt quickly to new processes, workstreams, systems, and changing team priorities.
  • Work independently in a remote environment while meeting productivity and accuracy expectations.
Required Experience/Skills For The Insurance Operations – Credentialing Specialist
  • Previous healthcare administrative and/or provider credentialing experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong data entry and documentation skills.
  • Ability to navigate multiple websites, databases, and platforms efficiently.
  • Ability to learn new systems, terminology, and workflows quickly.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage a large volume of repetitive tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to identify issues and raise questions or challenges appropriately.
  • Comfortable adapting to changing processes and priorities.
Preferred Experience/Skills For The Insurance Operations – Credentialing Specialist
  • Previous provider credentialing or insurance operations experience.
  • Experience working with healthcare insurance companies, benefits, or provider networks.
  • Familiarity with healthcare terminology and insurance processes.
  • Experience completing or processing provider credentialing applications.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume healthcare administrative environment.
  • Experience researching and reconciling information across multiple systems or databases.
  • Comfortable communicating with insurance companies by phone when necessary.
Education Requirements
