First Acceptance Insurance is looking for a Director of Financial Reporting based in Tennessee. This leadership role is responsible for all external and internal financial reporting for a fast-paced non-standard auto insurance carrier. Candidates must have a CPA, a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and over 10 years of relevant experience, particularly in a high-growth insurance environment.

The ideal candidate will own the financial reporting function and ensure compliance, while maintaining strong internal controls and guiding cross-functional teams in a complex financial landscape.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Deep expertise in GAAP and statutory accounting (SAP/NAIC).
• Experience operating in a high-growth or complex insurance environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the financial reporting function including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Lead all GAAP and statutory reporting.
• Serve as the technical accounting lead for complex transactions.

Skills

GAAP and statutory accounting expertise

Advanced proficiency in Excel

Experience with ERP systems

Strong understanding of SSAPs

Education

CPA
