CHI Health Clinic offers primary to specialty care, walk-in, and virtual services with over 20 specialties and 100 locations, some with extended hours.

Responsibilities

The Insurance Follow Up Rep is responsible for communicating with commercial and government health insurance payers to resolve outstanding balances and non-coding denials. Activities include phone calls, online processing, fax, and written correspondence, utilizing work queues for efficiency, reviewing remittance advices, researching denial reasons, and resolving issues through appeals.

  • Follow-up with insurance payers to research and resolve unpaid accounts; correct entries in the system to ensure proper reimbursement.
  • Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and remittance advices to verify correct payments.
  • Communicate effectively to explain outstanding balances, denials, or underpayments, supported by EOBs and payer requirements.
  • Resubmit claims with necessary information as requested.
  • Identify trends and conduct staff training to address common issues.
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately.
  • Organize accounts by denial type or payer for bulk resolution.
  • Document all actions in the billing system accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of healthcare concepts, policies, standards, and practices relevant to the role.
  • Understanding of medical insurance, payer contracts, CPT, and ICD codes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory/reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency with automated systems related to the function.
  • Ability to interpret insurance reimbursement terms and remittance advice details.
  • Accurate data entry skills.
  • Ability to stay updated on industry trends and regulations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Effective prioritization and time management.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in English reading, understanding, and communication.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.

PREFERRED Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, post-high school training in medical billing or related fields, and two years of revenue cycle experience.

Pay Range: $16.26 - $22.36/hour
