Job summary

NICO National Indemnity Company, part of the Berkshire Hathaway family, is seeking an Insurance Finance Data Analyst in Omaha with hybrid work after training. The role analyzes financial and insurance data, prepares working papers, and supports program reporting and compliance.

You will collaborate with IT and Finance to improve data tools and processes. Ideal candidates bring a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 1+ year of experience, and strong Excel/Access skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles.
• Familiarity with statutory accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, reconcile, and interpret financial and insurance data from multiple sources.
• Prepare working papers, schedules, and financial or statutory reports for assigned programs.
• Process funding and loss payment requests and maintain cash controls.
• Coordinate daily, monthly, and year-end financial information between locations.
• Support maintenance and accuracy of Financial Database systems with IT and Finance.
• Assist with calculating reserves and IBNR allocations per guidelines.
• Develop and maintain spreadsheet and database tools for reporting needs.
• Compile data and prepare reports for management, regulators, auditors, and internal partners.
• Stay current on insurance accounting and financial reporting practices.
• Respond to audit inquiries related to financial data and controls.
