Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company in Michigan is seeking a Counsel to manage a caseload of predominantly low to moderate complexity, handling matters from inception through trial or appeal and delivering optimal results for Travelers’ insured customers.

The role requires JD, state license, strong litigation, research, and writing skills, plus the ability to build relationships with clients and claim partners while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Experience independently handling cases from inception through trial/hearing & appeal.
• Strong communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues, clients and partners.
• Persuasive legal writing and strong legal research skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Conduct legal research and produce persuasive writing and presentations.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external client relationships.
• Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients.
• Utilize technology and case management systems effectively.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
