Ascendion in Los Angeles is seeking an Insurance Defense Associate Attorney to join its boutique litigation practice. You will handle insurance defense and complex civil litigation matters while expanding into sophisticated insurance coverage and federal court experience.

The role offers hybrid work arrangement, a 2+ year experience requirement, and a competitive compensation range of $150,000 to $200,000 annually DOE, with an 1,850-hour annual billable target.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Experience handling discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
• Federal litigation experience is a plus, but not required.
• Billable requirement of 1,850 hours annually.

Responsibilities

• Handle insurance defense and complex civil litigation matters.
• Assist with insurance coverage disputes, policy interpretation, and coverage analysis.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and substantive legal memoranda.
• Conduct depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
• Gain hands-on experience with federal litigation, including motion practice and procedural requirements.
• Collaborate with partners on litigation strategy and case development.
• Manage cases through various stages of litigation.
