Job summary

MOHR Talent in East Providence, RI is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our insurance defense litigation team. The attorney will handle civil matters early, working directly with clients, insurers, adjusters, and senior litigators on complex matters.

We welcome both newer attorneys with about 1 year of experience and seasoned litigators (5+ years), with compensation based on experience and a stated annual bonus. The firm supports professional development and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the Rhode Island Bar (required).
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience, ideally in insurance defense.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Confident oral advocacy and communication.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Massachusetts and/or Connecticut Bar admission a plus.
• Probate experience welcome; small book of business a plus for senior candidates.

Responsibilities

• Take and defend depositions (experience not required for junior candidates).
• Draft and argue motions.
• Conduct legal research and analysis.
• Attend court conferences, hearings, and mediations.
• Communicate with clients, insurers, and insurance adjusters.
• Participate in settlement negotiations.
• Prepare cases for trial and participate in trials.
