Insurance Defense and Coverage Associate | Fully Remote, California | $175,000 to $240,000
You took the file when it was a rear end collision with a soft tissue claim. Eighteen months later the plaintiff had a new lawyer, a spine surgeon on the witness list and a demand with seven figures in it, and the carrier moved it to a national firm with a bigger bench. This job puts you on the receiving end of that memo.
It's insurance defense at a national firm, fully remote anywhere in California, and right now there's more work than people. The files are waiting, so you won't spend your first six months hoping something decent comes in. Day to day you'd be defending insureds in state and federal court across California, taking depositions, doing the discovery and the law and motion, and keeping the carrier and the insured up to date as the case moves.
The same group does coverage work alongside the defense, with first party in the team too. When a coverage issue comes up halfway through a case it lands with you, and you end up working both sides of the same claim.
