Job summary

Harris Beach Murtha seeks a mid-level associate to join its Coverage Practice Group. The Associate will represent insurers and other clients in insurance coverage, proper claims handling practices, and related litigation matters.

The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing insurance policies, evaluating coverage issues, conducting legal research, preparing written analyses and pleadings, and assisting with the resolution of coverage disputes.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from ABA-accredited law school required.
• Bar admission preferred in Massachusetts; admission in NY/CT/NH/RI a plus.
• 2-5+ years of litigation experience, preferably insurance coverage matters.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Represent insurers and clients in insurance coverage and related litigation.
• Review policies, pleadings, claim files to assess coverage issues.
• Assist with evaluation, investigation, and resolution of disputes.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, analyses, pleadings, and briefs.
• Participate in all phases of litigation: discovery, depositions, motions, hearings, trials.
• Communicate case strategy with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and teammates.
• Collaborate across practice areas to deliver client service.
