Job summary

Morrison Mahoney LLP in New Hampshire is seeking a civil litigation Associate Attorney to handle a challenging caseload from inception to resolution. This role requires 4–6 years of civil litigation experience and NH Bar admission. The position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement and a competitive salary

Qualifications

  • JD from ABA-accredited law school and NH State Bar admission are essential.
  • Bar admission in Maine/Vermont or a sufficient UBE score is a plus.
  • At least four years of civil litigation experience in NH state and federal courts.
  • Experience trying NH cases, depositions, ADR, and negotiations.
  • Strong advocacy, ability to draft and argue dispositive motions, and strong legal research.
  • Ability to take and defend depositions; attention to detail and clear communication.

Responsibilities

  • Manage own caseload from inception to resolution, draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and trials to gain courtroom experience.
  • Collaborate with clients, experts, and fellow attorneys to devise litigation strategies.
  • Communicate with clients regularly, providing updates and status reports.

ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY (Civil Litigation)

Join Morrison Mahoney LLP as a full-time Associate Attorney, working in civil litigation. Areas of focus include Professional Liability, Tort and Liability Defense, and Insurance Coverage. A Day in the Life of an Associate Attorney

As a civil litigation Associate Attorney at Morrison Mahoney LLP, your role is dynamic and engaging, offering a perfect mix of independent responsibilities and collaborative teamwork. You will manage your own caseload from inception to resolution, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests while meticulously adhering to deadlines. Your days will be enriched by preparing for and attending depositions, hearings, and trials, granting you invaluable courtroom experience. Collaboration is crucial in this role, where you'll engage closely with clients, experts, and fellow attorneys to devise effective litigation strategies. Clear and regular communication with clients will be essential, as you provide them with updates and interim status reports on their cases.

Additionally, you'll conduct in-depth legal research, preparing memoranda to bolster case strategies, while working alongside partners and senior attorneys to ensure seamless case management. This multifaceted position promises a fulfilling career path in the legal field.

What Matters Most

To succeed as an Associate Attorney, you will need a robust set of skills and qualifications.

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the New Hampshire State Bar, are essential prerequisites.
  • Bar admission in Maine and/or Vermont, or a sufficient UBE score to waive into one or both jurisdictions, considered a plus.
  • You should possess at least four (4) years of prior civil litigation experience and experience in both New Hampshire state and federal courts.
  • Experienced trying cases in NH courts; taking/defending depositions; ADR experience; settlement negotiations.
  • You should be a self-starter with strong advocacy skills. Proficiency in drafting and arguing dispositive motions, along with the ability to perform legal research and respond to discovery requests, is crucial
  • Taking and defending fact witness and expert depositions will also be part of your role, making attention to detail and effective communication are key attributes for success in this position.
