Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a licensed Michigan attorney with 3+ years of insurance coverage experience to join a sophisticated litigation and advisory practice. The role emphasizes ownership, independent work, and collaboration with senior attorneys.

You will analyze statutes and case law, perform detailed research, draft pleadings and memoranda, and support negotiations and court appearances. A hybrid in-office/remote schedule is offered with team-based in-office days.

Qualifications

  • Jurist Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Michigan law license required.
  • 3+ years of directly relevant insurance coverage experience; 5+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Handle insurance coverage matters with increasing ownership and independence.
  • Analyze statutes, case law, regulations, and authorities relevant to client matters.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and prepare clear written analyses.
  • Draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Provide practical legal analysis supporting client decision-making and strategy.
  • Participate in discovery and case preparation for litigation matters.
  • Assist with negotiations, mediations, court appearances, and advocacy.
  • Manage multiple matters with deadlines and high attention to detail.
  • Communicate professionally with insurance carriers, corporate clients, and risk managers.
  • Collaborate with partners and associates to deliver high-quality service.
  • Take on increasing responsibility as experience grows.

Note: Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Michigan and have at least 3+ years of directly relevant insurance coverage experience. We strongly prefer 5+ years, but will consider attorneys with 3+ years depending on the nature of their work and level of independence.
