My Psychiatrist is seeking an Insurance Collections Specialist who will own assigned accounts receivable and drive resolution through investigation and follow-through. You’ll review unpaid, underpaid, and denied claims, communicate with carriers, and prepare appeals when needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of experience in insurance collections, medical billing, accounts receivable, or healthcare Revenue Cycle operations
• Hands-on experience following up on unpaid, underpaid, and denied insurance claims
• Understanding of insurance accounts receivable and aging
• Experience using EHR, practice management, or medical billing systems
• Ability to investigate reimbursement discrepancies and determine appropriate next steps

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned insurance A/R from initial follow-up through final resolution
• Investigate unpaid, rejected, denied, and underpaid claims
• Contact insurance carriers to obtain detailed claim status and reimbursement information
• Determine the appropriate next action based on payer responses, claim history, EOBs/ERAs, documentation, and account activity
• Maintain disciplined follow-up until payment, adjustment, appeal, or another documented resolution is reached
• Prevent accounts from sitting untouched or becoming unnecessarily aged
• Identify root causes behind denials and payment delays
• Coordinate resubmissions and follow up on appeals
• Identify recurring denial patterns and elevate systemic issues to leadership
