Job summary

SignatureCare Emergency Center seeks an Insurance Reimbursement Specialist in Houston to manage follow-up, denials, and appeals for maximum reimbursement. You will handle outbound and inbound payer calls, reprocess claims, and resolve unpaid balances while ensuring compliance with HIPAA.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least three years in medical insurance follow-up, with proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, payer portals, and common medical billing software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three years of experience in medical insurance follow-up, collections, denial management, and reimbursement.
• Knowledge of both in-network and out-of-network facility and professional claims.
• Experience with commercial insurance carriers (e.g., UHC, Cigna, Aetna, BCBS, Marketplace plans) preferred.
• Strong ability to read and interpret EOBs, ERAs, and payer correspondence.
• Experience preparing and submitting appeals in high-volume claims environments.
• Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, payer portals, and other medical billing applications.

Responsibilities

• Work assigned claims accurately, efficiently, and within departmental timelines.
• Research claim status, discrepancies, denials, coding or billing issues, and authorization concerns.
• Follow up and collect on all claims, including resolving billing errors.
• Adhere to departmental policies and compliance requirements including HIPAA.
• Communicate claim issues and reimbursement discrepancies clearly to payers.
• Meet performance goals for efficiency, accuracy, and attendance.
