Job summary

North Shore Health is seeking an Insurance Billing Specialist I to manage the timely billing and collection of private insurance receivables for a group of facilities in a central billing environment.

The role involves preparing and submitting diverse insurance claims (primary, secondary, supplemental, VA, hospice, Medicare coinsurance) and following up on payer commitments to ensure efficient cash collections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of one year experience in health care insurance billing.
• Comprehensive knowledge of commercial insurance, managed care plans, COB rules.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and submits primary, secondary and supplemental insurance claims.
• Documents payer commitments and follows up using approved systems.
• Responds to payer documentation requests and resolves balance discrepancies.
• Prepares A/R adjustments and corrections as needed.
• Identifies adverse trends causing denials and coordinates follow-up.
• Reports claims status and AR balances to supervisor as scheduled.
• Participates in monthly AR reviews and account write-offs.
