Insurance Billing/Collections Assistant II (Remote) - Program in Physical Therapy

Position Summary

This position supports all clinical practice sites with back-end billing duties, including accurate and timely processing of billing charges, review and follow-up of billing and collections, financial work queues, and reconciliation of delayed billing charges in a fast-paced Physical Therapy Program. It also involves assisting with clinical billing issues using Epic EMR billing and scheduling system.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Verify accuracy and completeness of daily billing charges, monitor and resolve issues in financial work queues to maximize reimbursement.
  2. Assist with charge review, input, tracking, and verification of therapy billing transactions.
  3. Follow up and reconcile financial billing and claim queues to eliminate outstanding edits.
  4. Support account receivable issues related to Epic EMR system communications from Physician Billing Service.
  5. Respond to insurance and other entity inquiries as needed.
  6. Review and reconcile charge reports.
  7. Help resolve claim edits due to missing patient information or overdue accounts.
  8. Answer billing and collection questions.
  9. Provide backup for Accounts Receivable duties during peak times, vacations, or illnesses.
  10. Perform other duties such as filing, faxing, copying, and correspondence.
Working Conditions:

Job Location/Working Conditions: Normal office environment.

Physical Effort: Typically sitting at a desk.

Equipment: Office equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or combination of education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or medical collections.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Information:

Salary range: $17.34 - $25.40/hour, determined by qualifications and performance.
