Job summary

Midtown Pain and Spine Clinic is seeking an Insurance Authorization Coordinator to ensure procedures and injections are properly authorized with insurance carriers prior to patient appointments. You will verify coverage, inform patients of estimated out-of-pocket costs, and document authorization details in our systems.

The role requires 1–2 years of experience in medical authorizations or related scheduling, with a focus on accurate pre-certification for procedures and imaging.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1–2 years experience in medical authorizations, billing, or test scheduling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-certify procedures such as facet blocks, epidural injections, radiofrequency ablations, and spinal cord stimulators.
• Pre-certify diagnostic imaging orders such as MRI and CT.
• Pre-certify office-administered injectable medications (e.g., Botox, Xeomin) and coordinate deliveries with the specialty pharmacy.
• Review orders and discuss with providers any information needed for approval and scheduling.
• Document authorization information in the computer systems and provide patient instructions.
• Inform patients of estimated out-of-pocket expenses and authorization status.
• Coordinate with providers to ensure accurate and timely scheduling of procedures.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled procedures.
