Job summary

American Medical Association's AMA Insurance division is hiring an Insurance Assistant II for a hybrid role in Chicago, IL. You will support the Administrative Operations team by processing applications, enrollments, checks, claims, and mail routing.

The role requires a high school diploma and 2+ years of administrative experience, with familiarity with MS Office and document imaging. The position offers in-office and flexible hybrid components and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2+ years of administrative experience required; experience in the field of insurance preferred.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint skills preferred.
• Strong attention to detail required.
• Prior experience with scanning or imaging systems and data entry.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under tight deadline pressure and manage competing deadlines.
• Strong verbal and writing skills to communicate internally and with customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist the new business team with updating applications based on underwriting decisions.
• Enter paper application information into policy administration system.
• Scan/image claim checks and documents.
• Complete pre-claim work on paper claims.
• Route work items to appropriate team members.
• Complete data entry such as address changes, etc.
• Print and send outbound correspondence including: applications, ID cards and other documents.
