Job summary

Kuvare is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to support life insurance and annuity operations. You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, analyze financial activity, and assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial statements.

Working independently and with cross-functional teams, you will help ensure accurate recording of financial results and contribute to improving accounting processes and controls as part of a collaborative finance function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education/experience.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
• Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and accounting systems.
• Knowledge of STAT accounting principles preferred.
• Demonstrates ownership of assigned accounting processes and delivers accurate, timely work.
• Understands the business drivers behind accounting activities and seeks to understand why, not just how.
• Identifies and resolves routine issues independently and seeks guidance on complex matters when needed.
• Demonstrates curiosity and expands technical and business knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with STAT and GAAP accounting policies.
• Prepare account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items to ensure timely resolution.
• Explain routine fluctuations in balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Prepare supporting schedules used in internal and external financial reporting.
• Collaborate with various departments to resolve accounting questions and obtain supporting information.
• Assist with audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
• Participate in system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives to improve accounting efficiency and reporting quality.
• Assist with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.
• Ensure adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.
