Job summary

Independence Village of Carmel is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide who is insulin-certified and CMA-certified to support daily resident care in a senior living community. The role requires high empathy, patience, and strong communication to ensure safe medication administration and adherence to policy.

Responsibilities include verifying resident identity, maintaining accurate medication records, coordinating with nursing staff, and assisting with daily living activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have CMA certification.
• Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must have a TB clearance.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medication and treatments as ordered by physician.
• Verify resident identity before administering medication.
• Follow hand-washing policy and infection control.
• Order medications, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• Remove expired or discontinued medications from cart and apartments.
• Ensure medication records are accurate for your shift.
• Review medication sheets for completeness and accuracy.
• Report discrepancies to your supervisor.
• Document duties per community policy and procedures.
• Assist with admit, transfer and discharge of residents.
• Review charts for treatment orders and diet changes.
• Notify nurse of changes in resident condition.
• Maintain clean, sanitary work areas and carts.
• Show courtesy and empathy to residents and families.
• Report accidents and incidents promptly.
• Document important events in the 24-hour report.
• Assist with activities of daily living.
• Encourage social development of residents.
• Assist with light housekeeping and dining assistance.
• Perform duties delegated by supervisor to uphold Residents' Rights.
