Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking qualified Insulators J1–J4 to join the day shift. The role involves insulating systems across shipboard applications and requires obtaining DBIDS and NAVSEA badges to access Navy installations.

The successful Journeyman-3 level candidate will read insulation drawings, design and fabricate lagging pads, and install them on piping, valves, ventilation, and engine exhaust systems.

Qualifications

• Journeyman 3 Insulation Mechanical requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret insulation drawings and layouts.
• Design and fabricate lagging pads.
• Install lagging pads on pipe flanges, valves, ventilation systems, and engine exhaust systems.
• Fabricate miters from calcium silicate and install properly.

We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Lagging department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for an FIVE Insulators J1 - J4 for the day shift.

Must be able Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards by obtaining DBIDS and NAVSEA badges.

JOURNEYPERSON 4 (INSULATION MECHANIC)

• Must meet all Journeyman 3 Insulation Mechanical requirements.
• Must be able to read and interpret Insulation drawings, layout, and install.
• Must be able to design and fabricate lagging pads.
• Must be able to install lagging pads on pipe flanges, valves, ventilation systems, and engine exhaust systems.
• Must be able fabricate miters out of calcium silicate.
• Must be able install calcium silicate and fabricated miters on properly.
