Installation & Assembly:Install and assemble piping systems including process piping, HVAC piping, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, and industrial pipingMeasure, cut, thread, groove, bend, and assemble pipes using hand and power toolsInstall pipe hangers, supports, and anchors to secure piping systemsConnect pipes to equipment, fixtures, and other piping using various joining methods (welding, threading, flanging, grooved couplings)Install valves, fittings, and piping specialties per specificationsTest piping systems for leaks using air or hydrostatic pressure testsBlueprint Reading & Layout:Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, schematics, and specificationsPerform field measurements and layout for piping installationsDetermine pipe routing and support locationsCalculate pipe lengths, angles, and fitting requirementsMark cutting and installation lines on pipesFabrication:Fabricate pipe sections, fittings, and assemblies in shop or fieldCut, thread, groove, and bend pipe to required specificationsWeld pipe joints using various welding processes (TIG, MIG, Stick) as certifiedModify or custom-fabricate fittings and assemblies as neededSystem Testing & Startup:Pressure test piping systems to verify integrityFlush and clean piping systems prior to startupAssist with system commissioning and startup activitiesMake adjustments and repairs as needed during testingMaintenance & Repair:Troubleshoot and repair leaking or damaged piping systemsReplace worn or damaged pipe sections, valves, and fittingsPerform preventive maintenance on piping systemsRespond to emergency repairs as neededSafety & Quality:Follow all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company safety policiesWear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all timesMaintain clean and organized work areasEnsure all work meets code requirements and quality standardsParticipate in daily safety meetings (toolbox talks)Report unsafe conditions or hazards immediatelyCollaboration:Work with other trades (electricians, HVAC technicians, operators) to coordinate installationsCommunicate with foremen and project managers on progress and issuesMentor and train apprentices and helpersAssist with material takeoffs and ordering as neededExperience & Licensing:3-5+ years of pipefitting experience in industrial, commercial, or construction settingsJourneyman Pipefitter license or equivalent certification (preferred)Apprenticeship completion or equivalent on-the-job trainingTechnical Skills:Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, isometric drawings, and P&IDsSkilled in measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, and bending pipeExperience with various pipe materials: carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, CPVC, cast iron, ductile ironKnowledge of various joining methods: threading, welding, flanging, grooved couplings, soldering, brazingFamiliarity with pipe hangers, supports, and anchoring systemsUnderstanding of piping codes and standards (ASME B31.1, B31.3, local plumbing codes)Welding (if applicable):Welding certifications (TIG, MIG, Stick) for carbon steel and stainless steel (preferred)Ability to pass welding tests as required by project specificationsTools & Equipment:Proficient with hand tools: pipe wrenches, chain wrenches, pipe cutters, threading dies, hacksawsExperience with power tools: band saws, grinders, threading machines, grooving machines, bendersComfortable operating cutting torches and welding equipmentExperience with pipe beveling machines, orbital welders, and specialty tools (plus)Physical Requirements:Able to lift and carry 50-75 lbs regularlyAble to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditionsComfortable climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working on elevated platformsAble to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periodsGood hand-eye coordination and manual dexterityOther Requirements:Valid driver's license and reliable transportationOwn basic hand tools (company provides power tools and specialty equipment)Able to pass background check and drug screeningAble to work overtime, nights, weekends as neededStrong work ethic, attention to detail, and safety-first mindsetPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSJourneyman Pipefitter license or union cardWelding certifications (6G TIG/Stick on carbon steel and stainless steel)OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationExperience with industrial process piping (high pressure, high temperature)Experience with specialty piping systems: sanitary, pharmaceutical, cryogenic, high-purityData center or mission-critical facility experienceForklift and aerial lift certificationsRigging certificationMedical gas installer certification (for healthcare projects)Fire sprinkler fitter experienceBilingual (English/Spanish)
