Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking Insulators for work in the Decatur, AL area. This position covers boilers, pipes, tanks and refrigeration units with insulating materials, such as fiberglass, cork, plastic and magnesia to reduce loss or absorption of heat, prevent moisture condensation and to deaden sound.

Essential qualifications include high school or equivalent and 1–4 years of insulation experience, plus knowledge of insulator hand tools and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of insulator hand tools, tape measure, cutting tools and power tools.
• NCCER certification may be required at some job sites.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and acceptance of policy.

• Must not pose a direct threat to health or safety.

Responsibilities

• Wires prefabricated fiberglass covering around steam and hot water piping to insulate.
• Fits insulation around boilers, evaporators and turbines. Cements insulation for smooth finish.
• Tapes/clamps sections and seals joints with wiring or cement.
• Installs insulation on ventilation systems to deaden sound and reduce vibration.
• Follows safety protocols and uses PPE per site requirements.

This position covers boilers, pipes, tanks and refrigeration units with insulating materials, such as fiberglass, cork, plastic and magnesia to reduce loss or absorption of heat, prevent moisture condensation and to deaden sound.

Essential Qualifications

• High school or equivalent
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Basic knowledge of Insulator hand tools, tape measure, cutting tools, power tools
• NCCER certification may be required at some job sites
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Functional Requirements

Wires prefabricated fiberglass covering around steam and hot water piping; trowels mastic or brushes cement on insulation to obtain a smooth finish and covers piping with cloth; fits thermo-block and magnesia-block insulation around insulating boilers, evaporators and turbines; wires insulation on machinery and staples wire netting over insulation; trowels cement on wire netting to protect insulating material; wires cork on salt water, refrigeration and air-conditioning piping and cements cloth over insulating material to obtain a smooth finish; cuts sheets of insulation into sections; fits and cements sections around fittings; covers gas piping of refrigeration or air-conditioning systems with molded plastic; fabricates detachable insulation for valves or similar fittings; wires detachable covers on valves or fittings; installs fiber glass or spun glass on ventilation systems to deaden sound and prevent vibration.

Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement
