Job summary

Suncor Energy is seeking Instrumentation Technicians to join our Maintenance group at the Commerce City refinery. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair process control equipment including pressure, flow, level, temperature, pH, control valves and gas detectors.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, knowledge of DCS/PLC, and an Associate's Degree in Instrument & Controls or equivalent program with 5 years of recent experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of low voltage distribution, DCS, PLC operation & configuration.
• Reading and interpreting circuit, process and instrumentation diagrams.
• IS A CCST Level I certification or equivalent program with experience is accepted.
• Associate degree or formal instrumentation program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot refinery equipment and improve reliability.
• Calibrate, loop check, troubleshoot, repair, and startup field devices.
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Plan work including equipment evaluation and selection.
• Use charts and data to diagnose equipment failures.
• Improve uptime through calibration accuracy and reliability.
• Respond to callouts and emergencies and provide major maintenance support.
• Use SAP to capture work orders, instrument reports, maintenance and reliability data, and fault code trend analysis.
