Job summary

Suncor is seeking multiple Instrumentation Technicians for its Commerce City refinery to support operations, maintenance, and engineering by installing, maintaining, and repairing process control equipment (pressure, flow, level, temperature, pH, valves, gas detectors, etc.).

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant instrument/control qualifications, and experience with DCS/PLC systems; union representation and relocation support are provided along with a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Knowledge of low voltage distribution, DCS, PLC operation/programming, and instrument control device settings and calibrations.
Associate's Degree in Instrument and Controls.
Alternative: formal Process Instrumentation program via military service or crafts apprenticeship with 5 years’ experience.
Alternative: ISA CCST Level I with 5 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot problems and improve refinery equipment reliability.
Perform calibrations, loop checks, troubleshooting, repair, and start-up on field devices.
Implement preventive and predictive maintenance of instrumentation systems.
Plan work including equipment evaluation and selection.
Use charts/data to diagnose equipment failures.
Improve uptime through calibration accuracy and reliability.
Respond to callouts and emergencies and provide major maintenance support.
Use SAP to capture work orders and instrument data.
