Job summary

Calspan's Automotive Crash Facility in Buffalo, NY is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to support and improve our state-of-the-art test systems. You will join a fast-paced lab, performing setup, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation for automotive crash testing.

The role requires technical education and hands-on experience, with opportunities to contribute to projects for global manufacturers and to be part of Calspan's 75-year legacy of innovation.

Qualifications

  • AAS or Bachelors in related discipline.
  • 3+ years in related discipline or a combination of education and experience.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Electrical and electronic principles.
  • Read and understand engineering plans and specifications.
  • Read drawings and troubleshoot.
  • Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Performing set-up and installation of equipment, instrumentation, cable routing, soldering, and checkout before, during, and after the test.
  • Support the maintenance, installation, and repair of test equipment to maximize operational availability.
  • Document test procedures and installations. Provide guidance with data calculation when applicable.
  • Understand OEM test request for upcoming test instrumentation required for test article. Assemble instrumentation required and make placards for test article

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • AAS or Bachelors in related discipline
  • 3+ years in related discipline or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Abilities:

  • Troubleshooting mechanicalor electrical problems
  • Electrical and electronic principles
  • Perform operations and execute moderately complex test procedures for engineering, scientific, or real-time data acquisition
  • Read and understand engineering plans and specifications
  • Read drawings and troubleshoot
  • Microsoft Office
