Job summary

Automationtechies in Portland, OR is seeking an Instrumentation Field Technician to support industrial automation and control systems at customer sites. You will calibrate instruments, troubleshoot, and assist with PLC/SCADA support and system modifications.

The role requires at least 2 years of field experience, knowledge of PLCs (Rockwell/Emerson), SCADA such as Ignition or GE Cimplicity, and the ability to read P&IDs and electrical drawings.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of instrumentation and controls field experience.
• Calibrating and troubleshooting industrial instrumentation.
• Experience with PLCs (Rockwell SLC, PLC5, ControlLogix, Emerson RX3i/90-30).
• Experience with SCADA systems (Ignition or GE Cimplicity).
• Ability to read P&IDs, loop drawings, and electrical/control panel drawings.
• Experience with VFDs, motor starters, networking, and commissioning.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites.
• Preferred: networking, BMS, semiconductor facilities, or working with electrical/mechanical contractors.

Overview

Looking to add Instrumentation Field Technicians with at least 2 years of field experience to support industrial automation and control systems at customer sites. This hands-on role includes instrument calibration and troubleshooting, PLC and SCADA support, motor control troubleshooting, networking, commissioning, and system modifications. You’ll work directly with customers, making strong technical and communication skills essential.

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of instrumentation and controls field experience
• Experience calibrating and troubleshooting industrial instrumentation
• Knowledge of PLCs (Rockwell SLC, PLC5, ControlLogix, Emerson RX3i/90-30)
