About the Role

As a Senior Instrument Technician, you’ll be a hands‑on technical leader supporting industrial facilities by installing, commissioning, calibrating, and troubleshooting critical instrumentation and control systems. This role focuses on keeping complex industrial operations running safely, accurately, and efficiently through expert field service across process, utility, and control environments. You’ll work directly at client sites, applying deep instrumentation and controls knowledge to solve real‑world challenges and support system reliability from startup through ongoing maintenance.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
  • Install, program, troubleshoot, commission and calibrate instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical, pressure and temperature switches, limit switches, and control valves, using standard measurement and test equipment calibration standards.
  • Install impulse tubing to transmitters and associated infrastructure.
  • Calibrate instrumentation used to maintain production equipment, utilities, power equipment, and auxiliary measurement systems (boilers, chillers, water systems, wastewater systems, and other industrial systems).
  • Complete calibration and service work in accordance with in‑house or site procedures.
  • Provide technical support for calibration processes and procedures, including creating procedures or work plans.
  • Generate calibration certificates and/or approve certificates.
  • Demonstrate Allen Bradley RS Logix field exposure/experience.
  • Perform PLC/HMI troubleshooting, minor programming, installation of instrumentation and controls, and calibration.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or trade school certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as an instrument technician in related industries such as power & natural gas, chemical, wastewater, or water.
  • Allen Bradley or RS Logix experience is required; certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of servicing and installing instrumentation & controls equipment within manufacturing or industrial sites.
  • Experience performing calibrations of instruments such as flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and radiation counters or detectors.
  • Experience measuring analytical, pressure, volumetric flow, mass flow, ultrasonic flow, level, temperature, local controllers, and LEL.
  • Experience creating and implementing monthly calibration schedules.
  • Ability to adhere to client and company directions, policies, and standards.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • ISA CCST certification preferred but not required.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening for work on a government facility.
  • Must be willing to support clients within Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Northern Virginia.
Physical Requirements
  • Maintain a stationary position as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Frequent movement within client facilities and offices to access equipment.
  • Operate instrumentation standards, computers, calculators, copy machines, printers, and other devices efficiently.
  • Ascend and descend portable and fixed ladders, scaffolding, and other equipment up to 25 feet or more safely.
  • Ascend and descend stairs frequently.
  • Move tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs across client facilities as needed.
  • Occasionally lift and move equipment exceeding 100 lbs safely.
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions as required.
Hours

Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm

Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay: $100,000–125,000 annually (depending on experience).
