Job summary

Linde plc in Chesterton, IN is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to maintain and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation, including transmitters, PLC systems, meters, analyzers, and automatic valves.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, read piping and instrumentation diagrams, support regulatory compliance, and travel ~20% to satellite plants, with occasional overtime.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Engineering Technology Degree in Instrumentation / Electronics with at least five years of experience maintaining instrumentation systems in industrial manufacturing.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, test, and calibrate industrial instrumentation systems and equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial instrumentation systems.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate well within teams.
  • Work independently and lead or participate in team projects, managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Use computers and standard software packages including Microsoft Office and email proficiently.
  • Travel approximately 20 percent of the time as required.
  • Preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering with knowledge of regulatory standards, process control systems, and asset management software such as Infor EAM and Procal.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot industrial instruments including transmitters, PLCs, meters, analyzers, and automatic valves.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment under 600 volts, such as motors, UPS, breakers, transformers, and switchgear control systems.
  • Develop, plan, schedule, coordinate, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Assist in root cause analysis for major equipment failures and resolve chronic instrumentation asset issues.
  • Read and maintain piping and instrumentation diagrams and schematic wiring diagrams per SOPs and MOUs.
  • Lead implementation and compliance of instrumentation calibration and asset management software, and support validation activities for instrument systems under regulatory standards.
  • Provide on-site or remote guidance to plant and contract personnel to ensure safe, effective work and resolve critical issues with urgency and integrity.
  • Support satellite plant operations with ~20% travel, with varied weather conditions and access to elevated equipment; occasional overtime, weekend, night, and holiday callouts.

  • Lead implementation and compliance of instrumentation calibration and asset management software, and support validation activities for instrumentation systems under regulatory standards
  • Provide on-site or remote guidance to plant and contract personnel to ensure safe, effective work and drive resolution of critical issues with urgency and integrity
  • Also, you will support satellite plant operations with approximately 20 percent travel, working in varied weather conditions and accessing elevated equipment; be prepared for occasional overtime, weekend, night, and holiday callouts
