Job summary

Linde plc in the United States seeks a skilled instrumentation and electrical technician to maintain and repair plant instrumentation, electrical systems, and switchgear in a 600V environment.

You will read P&ID diagrams, perform lock-out/tag-out, coordinate with contractors, and support outages while ensuring safety and quality compliance. On-call rotation is included to handle plant emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Industrial maintenance experience in instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Experience with lock-out/tag-out and permits.
  • Reading and maintaining P&ID and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience with Hazardous Work Permits and Management of Change processes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, inspect, calibrate, and repair plant instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot industrial instruments and analyzers including transmitters, PLCs, meters, and valves.
  • Plan, schedule, and perform instrumentation and electrical activities during outages.
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects.
  • Read and follow SOPs, QA, and MOC policies; manage contractor safety and permits.
  • On-call availability for 24/7 plant emergencies, outages, shutdowns, and turnaround work.

Job description

  • You will be responsible for installation, troubleshooting, inspection, calibration, and repairs of plant instrumentation and electrical systems
  • Maintain and troubleshoot industrial instruments and analyzers including transmitters, programmable logic controllers, meters, and automatic valves
  • Further, you will also maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment below 600 volts including motors, backup generators, uninterruptible power supplies, breakers, and transformers
  • Knowledgeable in switchgear control systems and capable of racking breakers in and out
  • You will read and maintain piping and instrumentation diagrams and schematic wiring diagrams in compliance with standard operating procedures, quality assurance, and management of change policies
  • Perform lock-out tag-out procedures and issue permits for electrical work
  • Facilitate contractor management to ensure safe and efficient completion of electrical maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with all functional testing requirements related to quality assurance, including isolation circuit tests
  • Maintain critical spare parts inventory for instrumentation and electrical systems
  • Plan, schedule, estimate costs, procure materials, coordinate, and perform instrumentation and electrical activities during site outages
  • Understand process loop interactions and their impact on operations
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers and diagnostics
  • Prepare and execute small projects aimed at improving facility availability and reliability
  • Support root cause analysis programs for routine and major failures of electrical systems
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems to plan and execute maintenance activities, including parts procurement and documentation completion
  • Support plant operations by making control changes as needed
  • Also, you will perform work outdoors in variable weather conditions, at elevated heights, or in confined spaces
What makes you great
  • You have a High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Associates in Applied Sciences Degree or equivalent apprenticeship preferred
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in an industrial environment strongly preferred
  • You have working knowledge of chemical plants, with a preference on industrial gas plant processes
  • Experience with installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment
  • Working knowledge of Hazardous Work Permits and Management of Change processes is required as well
  • Moreover you have excellent communication, team interaction, and presentation skills
  • Self-starter comfortable working independently, managing multiple tasks, and achieving results with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude with adaptability to changing situations and strong ability to build and maintain productive relationships across departments
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • On-call availability required for 24/7 operation environment including nights, weekends, and holidays for plant emergencies, outages, shutdowns, and turnaround work

Pay commensurate with experience. Open to salary range $67,079 - $101,316
