Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an Instrumentation Coordinator to prepare, sterilize, assemble, and deliver surgical instruments across multiple sites in the Enterprise. The role ensures aseptic packaging, standardization of trays, and coordination between ORs and Sterile Processing departments.

Responsibilities include daily coordination for case flow, project involvement, and cross-site instrument management to support 24/7 operations across Ross Heart Hospital,

Qualifications

• HS Graduate or Equivalent.
• At least one year of experience as an instrument processor or Surgical Technologist.
• CRCST certification issued through IAHCSMM or CBSPD required upon hire, or must obtain within the first six months of hire.

• Coordinate daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments to facilitate efficient case flow.
• Ensure sterilized, appropriately functioning medical supplies and instrumentation are prepared and delivered aseptically.

Job DescriptionScope of Position: An Instrumentation Coordinator works to prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, and or clean all clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures. The Instrumentation Coordinator ensures equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections. This position is for ensuring sterilized, appropriately functioning medical supplies and instrumentation are packaged and delivered to the point use aseptically. Additionally, this position needs to serve as a clinical liaison between the Operating Rooms and the CSS offsite location to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the Enterprise. This position will also be responsible for procuring, and standardizing instrument trays across the Enterprise. This position will be utilized 24/7 in multiple reprocessing sites across the Health System, to include Ross Heart Hospital, University Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, Same Day Surgery, University Hospital East and all Ambulatory sites. Position Summary: Coordination and oversight of daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments to facilitate efficient case flow, through efficient case cart assembly and decontamination, assembly and sterilization/high level disinfection of all reprocessed surgical inventory. Responsible for assisting in projects and process improvement. Promotes customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication with Operating Room clinical operations and multiple sterile processing departments across the Medical Center. Also responsible for ordering, procuring and organizing instrument trays on a global level to service the entire Enterprise.Minimum Education RequiredHS Graduate or EquivalentRequired QualificationsHigh school graduate or possess the G.E.D.
