Job summary

Pond & Company is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Manager to lead and support engineering projects within our Energy group. The role provides technical leadership, project oversight, and team management across energy and industrial facilities including power generation, LNG, and gas processing.

The ideal candidate is a senior I&C professional with strong leadership, client-facing capabilities, and a track record of delivering complex engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of professional I&C engineering experience.
• Experience leading I&C engineering projects, teams, or departments.
• Experience supporting energy projects (power gen, LNG, gas processing, oil & gas, midstream).
• Strong understanding of instrumentation, controls, control systems, and I&C design.
• Experience with engineering design, equipment specs, procurement, vendor coordination, and field support.
• Strong ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate across disciplines.
• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and client-management skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
• Active PE license strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage I&C engineering teams across multiple projects and clients.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to I&C engineers and designers.
• Serve as a key technical and client-facing leader throughout project execution.
• Coordinate I&C activities with electrical, mechanical, civil, process, and other engineering disciplines.
• Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical deliverables.
• Develop engineering scopes, design approaches, studies, and project estimates.
• Develop instrumentation and control system specifications and procurement documentation.
• Evaluate vendor proposals, technical bids, and equipment selections.
• Troubleshoot I&C and controls engineering issues and provide practical solutions.
• Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project presentations.
• Support business development activities and client relationships.
• Conduct field walkdowns, site assessments, construction support, and commissioning activities.
• Help establish and maintain engineering standards, processes, and quality expectations.
• Identify opportunities to improve project execution and team performance.
• Travel periodically to client and project sites as required.
