Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer for its municipal water and wastewater team in Phoenix, AZ. You will design and implement I&C solutions, SCADA architectures, and network systems while collaborating with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers.

You will review equipment submittals, support startup and commissioning, and help ensure field QA/QC and safety compliance. Occasional travel to sites in the Phoenix area is expected.

Qualifications

• 0-5+ years of I&C, Automation, and SCADA system design and implementation experience in water/wastewater.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or controls engineering or a closely related field of study.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork.
• Basic understanding of industrial network design and implementation, and basic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and design control system solutions that meet client needs.
• Prepare technical memorandums, design criteria, SCADA architectures, communication systems, and network designs.
• Create P&IDs, SCADA network diagrams, process control descriptions, specifications, control schematics, and panel layouts.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers throughout project delivery.
• Provide engineering services during construction, review submittals and RFIs, and conduct field inspections.

With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role description:Arcadis is looking for an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer in the municipal water/wastewater industry to join our growing team in Phoenix, Arizona.As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer (I&C Engineer), you will collaborate with our experienced team of professionals, providing technical and design consulting services with a focus on instrumentation, controls systems, and associated network and communications infrastructure for municipal water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.Role accountabilities:Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Working in a collaborative environment to evaluate and design control system solutions that meet client needs. Preparing technical memorandums and developing design criteria, SCADA system architectures, communication systems and network designs, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA network diagrams, process control descriptions, specifications, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, interconnection diagrams, and other I&C design documents. Coordinating closely with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers throughout project delivery. Providing engineering services during construction, including reviewing equipment and software submittals and shop drawings, as well as responding to contractor requests for information (RFIs). Conducting field inspections and providing oversight for projects under construction, including identifying deviations from design, performing general QA/QC of completed work, and monitoring safety compliance. Participating in factory testing, site acceptance testing, field inspections, startup, and commissioning-related activities.Providing electrical design and coordination across multiple projects simultaneously, with an emphasis on medium- and low-voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding systems for water and wastewater projects.
