Job summary

MPR Associates, Inc. seeks an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer – Network Communications to guide I&C projects across U.S. and international clients. This full-time role, based out of Virginia or Connecticut, combines technical leadership with design, configuration, and regulatory/compliance oversight.

You will work on industrial networked control systems, implement secure communications, and mentor team members while aligning growth with market needs. Travel up to 20–30% may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires a 4-year technical degree; advanced degree a plus.
• At least 5 years in I&C with project/systems engineering background.
• Experience with DCS/PLC, control devices, networks, and communications.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in control system engineering, focusing on networked communications.
• Design, configure, and maintain industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, etc.).
• Lead regulatory and cybersecurity efforts (NERC CIP, ISA/IEC 62443).
• Integrate digital devices (protective relays, sensors, actuators) with networked ICs.
• Develop system architecture diagrams, cybersecurity risk assessments, and feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on network-centric solutions for industrial apps.
• Create network diagrams, test communication integrity, and simulate algorithms.
