Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support multiple office locations in Conshohocken, PA, Cincinnati, OH, Cary, NC or Indianapolis, IN. The role focuses on designing control systems, panels, and instrumentation for industrial facilities, with on-site startup support and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.

The candidate will mentor others, manage schedules and quality, and leverage expertise in P&ID development and Fieldbus technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering.
• 7+ years of instrumentation and control design experience for industrial private-sector clients such as pharma, biotech, chemical, food products, or petrochemical industries (pharma preferred).
• Experience in design, testing and startup of industrial process automation systems.
• Experience with industrial process control networking including Fieldbus technologies.
• Control panel design; knowledge of UL508A requirements for industrial control panels.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to interface with all levels of personnel and management; work in a team and independently.
• Knowledge of Piping & Instrument Diagram Development (P&ID) including ANSI/ISA S5.1 symbols.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for schedule and technical quality of engineering tasks.
• Provide on-site assistance during startup and coordinate work with staff and the discipline lead.
• Mentor other professionals and lead multi-disciplinary design activities.
• Produce designs for electrical circuits and panels; develop control systems for various processes.
• Develop options and optimizations for process control, instrumentation and automation.
• Lead plant design activities as area/system leader coordinating with multi-discipline designers.
