Job summary

Vanderweil Engineers in Boston is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our growing team. This role focuses on PLC/DCS design, instrumentation selection, P&ID interpretation, and panel wiring development.

You will coordinate with mechanical and electrical trades, review submittals, witness FAT, and support start-up and commissioning. A BS in Engineering and 6+ years of experience are required; proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required.
• 6+ years’ experience in instrumentation & controls.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Access; AutoCAD and Revit experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer PLC and/or DCS control systems.
• Prepare control system component specifications.
• Interpret and develop P&ID and instrumentation selection.
• Develop panel wiring diagrams and relay logic controls.
• Coordinate with mechanical and electrical trades.
• Review System Integrator and equipment submittals.
• Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT).
• Assess existing I&C systems and upgrade projects.
• Support system start-up and commissioning.

Some of your Responsibilities include:

• PLC and/or DCS based control system design and engineering,
• Control system component specifications,
• Piping and Instrumentation Diagram interpretation and development,
• Instrumentation selection and specification,
• Interpret and develop panel wiring diagrams and relay logic controls.
• Coordinate with mechanical and electrical trades,
• Review of System Integrator and equipment submittal drawings,
• Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT),
• Existing system assessment and I & C system upgrade projects.
• System start–up and commissioning a bonus.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required
• 6 plus years’ experience
• Proficient in computer use and software including, but not limited to: Excel, Word, Power Point, Project and Access. Capable in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Experience with I & C systems supporting Power Generation, Grid Scale Battery Storage, Electrical distribution infrastructure and Industrial process control for process manufacturing.

The total compensation that we expect to pay for this position is dependent on years of experience, licensure, education, geographic location, and project portfolio but is expected to be in the $125,000 to $165,000 range.
