Job summary

Tropicana Brands Group is seeking an experienced Trades 7 Instrumentation Tech to support our Electrical team at the Bradenton, FL facility. The role includes planning, laying out, and performing installation, repair, and maintenance across a full range of electrical equipment and circuitry in the plant.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years in Electrical & Instrumentation with at least 2 years in Instrument, Measurement and Control, plus hands-on experience with PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and related

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Electrical & Instrumentation with 2 years in Instrument, Measurement and Control or equivalent training/experience.
  • Must be located in Bradenton, FL area or willing to relocate for duration of employment.
  • Onsite full-time role with ability to perform physical tasks including lifting 50+ pounds and working in manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair complex electrical equipment including PLCs, VFDs, transformers, and motor control centers.
  • Program and troubleshoot VFDs using HIM modules and related tools.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs; read and follow drawings, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
  • Disassemble, repair/replace components, reassemble and test to ensure proper operation.
  • Follow safety rules and GMPs; document work and maintain records for maintenance activities.

Tropicana Brands Group is looking for a Trades 7 Instrumentation Tech to support our Electrical team. This role will be responsible for planning, laying out, and performing a wide range of installation, repair, and maintenance operations on a full range of electrical equipment and circuitry throughout the plant.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in the Electrical & Instrumentation field, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Instrument, Measurement and Control field, or equivalent formal training plus experience, or equivalent related experience.
  • Install, maintain and repair complex automatic controls, generating equipment, transformers, motor control centers, and related electrical equipment, including PLC’s and VFD’s.
  • Install, maintain and repair motors and power distribution systems, including
  • Perform soldering as required for installations or repairs.
  • Perform troubleshooting of PLC’s and using PLC’s for troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Advanced PLC troubleshooting to include code modifications (given proper Management Authorization) to change set-points, forcing functions, step through sequences, etc.
  • Program and troubleshoot VFD’s using HIM module and / or other tools or software.
  • Intermediate knowledge and capability to access and troubleshoot HMI’s (Panelviews, Wonderware terminals, etc).
  • Know how to properly document and store HMI and PLC programming.
  • Trained and demonstrated capability on HMI software including assigning/modifying alarms and creating objects (excluding PC based software, i.e. Wonderware).
  • Have basic understand of the National Electric Code and other reference materials and charts.
  • Be able to read and understand Technical Manuals.
  • Have math skills as needed for measuring and calculating electrical formulas.
  • Follow drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Be able to identify electrical components and follow wiring diagrams.
  • Have basic knowledge or PC’s, printers and associated software (Windows, Word, Excel, etc…).
  • Diagnose and remedy problems using test equipment and service manuals.
  • Disassemble units, determine extent of trouble, repair or replace components, reassemble, and adjust for proper operation.
  • Be able to understand, repair/replace VFD’s, smart valves, and other technically advanced equipment.
  • Understand how food process systems and packaging equipment work.
  • Be able to program and troubleshoot advanced PLC communication systems (DeviceNet, Ethernet, DH+, ControlNet, etc).
  • Accomplish work independently with a minimum of interference or delay to production.
  • Understand operating principles of instruments, control loops (PID), and other analog devices.
  • Understand servo motor control and associated software.
  • Trained and demonstrated capability on coding systems (Videojet’s, Labelers, Case Coders, etc).
  • Knowledge of calibrating level and pressure transmitters, temperature measuring devices, conductivity sensors, etc.
  • Read, understand and troubleshoot from process & instrumentation diagrams, pinning charts, and functional system descriptions.
  • Use verbal and written communication in a professional manner with team members, management, and all internal and external customers.
  • Model effective team behavior such as listening, seeking input from others, conflict resolutions, helping others and supporting team activities.
  • Be able to setup and tune system controls and instruments, both pneumatic and electronic.
  • Trained and understand on-line barcode scanning equipment and software.
  • Follow prescribed food and safety regulations.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by management.

  • Must be located in Bradenton, FL, surrounding area, or willing to relocate for the duration of employment.
  • Willingness to be onsite at the manufacturing facility on a full-time basis
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for the duration of the shift, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting/moving items weighing 50 pounds or more.
