Job summary

The City of Austin invites applications for an Instrumentation & Control Technician II with Austin Water. You will maintain, install, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems at water and wastewater facilities and remote sites.

You will diagnose complex issues, calibrate flow meters and transmitters, read blueprints, and train others in safe practices. The role involves lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, and on-call shifts as required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws applicable to instrumentation and control systems.
• Experience with installation, maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and ladder logic for troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics to analyze problems in instrumentation and control systems using test equipment and software.
• Install, calibrate, diagnose, repair, and replace instrumentation and control equipment at facilities.
• Program, modify, and maintain flow meters, transmitters, controllers, and analytical equipment.
• Communicate with customers and train others in safe work practices and calibration procedures.
• Read and update blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to reflect current systems.
• Maintain inventory and maintenance logs; participate in planning and reviews.
