Job summary

Ameren Callaway Energy Center seeks a Supervisor Instrument & Control to direct skilled personnel in maintenance, replacement, installation, and removal of equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation.

The role involves calibrating, testing, and controlling I&C systems, supervising technicians during outages, and planning work while promoting high workmanship standards. Nuclear plant operations or I&C experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in instrumentation preferred.
  • Five or more years experience in Instrumentation and Controls required.
  • Nuclear power plant Operations or I&C experience preferred.
  • Experience as a Training Instructor preferred.
  • Good decision making, leadership, communication and human relations skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Calibration, testing and corrective maintenance of instruments and controls at the Callaway Energy Center.
  • Supervise the activities of I&C technicians or assign technicians to work as directed by plant engineers during normal and outage operations.
  • Control measuring and test equipment as described in the OQAM.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel in predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance and related surveillance testing.
  • Plan, schedule and assign work; assist Planning & Scheduling in coordination.
  • Ensure safe and efficient use of manpower and resources; maintain high equipment reliability.
  • Ensure activities comply with procedures and policies; ensure complete documentation of work.
  • Perform special studies and projects as assigned by Maintenance Department management.
  • Assume ERO duties in accordance with RERP including responding to assigned ERO facilities within required response time.

About The Position

The Supervisor Instrument & Control directs the work of skilled personnel in work tasks and/or support activities for the maintenance, replacement, installation and removal of equipment in the power plant and associated structures to assure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for the calibration, testing and corrective maintenance of instruments and controls at the Callaway Energy Center
  • Supervise the activities if I&C technicians or assign technicians to work as directed by plant engineers or other specified personnel during normal and outage operations
  • Control measuring and test equipment at Callaway Energy Center as described in section 12 of the Callaway Energy Center Operating Quality Assurance Manual (OQAM)
  • Supervise maintenance personnel in performance of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance and related surveillance testing
  • Perform the planning, scheduling and assignment of work, and/or assist Planning & Scheduling department supervisors in work scheduling and coordination
  • Ensure safe and efficient use of manpower and resources, promoting high standards of workmanship, maintaining high level of equipment reliability and training of personnel in proper work practices
  • Ensure work activities are performed in accordance with applicable procedures and policies in an efficient manner
  • Ensure documentation of completed work activities is complete and accurate
  • Perform special studies and projects as assigned by Maintenance Department management
  • Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) including responding to assigned ERO facilities within the required response time
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in instrumentation from an accredited institution preferred
  • Five or more years experience in Instrumentation and Controls required
  • Nuclear power plant Operations or I&C experience preferred
  • Experience as a Training Instructor preferred
  • In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate: Good decision making, leadership, communication and human relations skills required
  • After preliminary review, selected applicants must take the First Line Supervisor Test and obtain a recommended status in order to be eligible for additional selection procedures (e.g., interview) designated for this position
  • Qualified candidates are required to establish and maintain their permanent residence within sixty highway miles of the Callaway Energy Center
  • Security screening required for Callaway Energy Center access
Working Conditions

The Maintenance Supervisor works a standard day or evening shift in an office/plant environment. Additional hours, callouts and/or rotating shifts may be required during refueling outages and emergent plant activities as the needs arise.

Compensation Range: $105,100.00 - $162,900.00 At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
