Job Title: I & E Technician

Pay: $38-42 per hour

General Purpose:

Under the guidance of the I & E Team Lead, you will maintain control systems, instrumentation, computers, and perform related technical work at a circulating fluidized bed power plant.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain, troubleshoot, test, calibrate, repair, and install instruments, transmitters, recorders, indicators, controllers, meters, impulse lines, cables, computers, DCS systems, CEMS systems, and related devices.
2. Diagnose electrical and instrumentation system issues using accepted methods, manuals, and experience to identify root causes.
3. Perform preventive and routine maintenance as directed, following work orders and maintenance schedules.
4. Isolate equipment, return equipment to service, and conduct operational tests under supervision.
5. Test, inspect, repair, and adjust electrical components such as relays, meters, voltage regulators, telemetering, supervisory control equipment, battery chargers, inverters, transformers, and other electrical apparatus.
6. Conduct routine electrical inspections in MSHA-regulated surface mine areas, complete corrective actions, and prepare inspection reports.
7. Perform soldering, brazing, and cutting using oxy-acetylene torches as qualified.
8. Operate computers and software including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and hardware.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the I/E Team Lead.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

Heavy physical demand. Work environment includes 60% in the plant, 10% in the control room, and 30% in shops. May require shift work, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus vocational training in instrumentation/electrical, an Instrument Technician Apprenticeship, or related military training as an Instrument/Electronics Technician.
• Minimum of two years' experience as an Instrument Technician in a power plant or related industry, or military experience. MSHA surface electrical certifications preferred.
