Job summary

Clean Harbors is looking for an Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance Technician to join their Sanford, NC team. In this role, you will perform instrument checks, calibrations, and PLC Logic programming. You will troubleshoot electrical issues and assist various maintenance departments.

The position offers a pay range of $38.00-45.00/hr DOE along with a sign-on bonus for specific start dates. Additional benefits include health coverage, stock purchase plan, and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• 6+ years electrical experience preferred.
• 3+ years of instrumentation experience preferred.
• Experience with 480v and below.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots instrument and control malfunctions.
• Performs preventative maintenance checks and calibrations.
• Installs new system controls including power wiring.

Skills

Clean Harbors is searching for a reliable and safely oriented Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance Technician (I & E) with an excellent mechanical aptitude to join our Sanford, NC team! Responsibilities include but not limited to performing hands‑on instrument checks, calibrations, and PLC Logic programming, along with diagnosing issues with control circuitry and assisting the maintenance departments with various tasks as needed.

Wage: $38.00-45.00hr DOE. SIGN ON BONUS for 6/8/26 or 6/15/26 start dates.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
• Troubleshoots instrument and control malfunctions.
• Performs preventative maintenance checks and calibrations.
• Maintains accurate records and logs as required.
• Installs new system controls (including power wiring).
• Installs cabling, power distribution systems, and motor control centers.
• Services and replaces motors and lighting.
• Exposure to multi‑disciplinary maintenance tasks preferred.
• Familiar with electrical work in a classified/hazardous area.
• Other duties as assigned.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 6+ years electrical experience preferred.
• 3+ years of instrumentation preferred.
• PLC troubleshooting experience.
• VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) troubleshooting and programming experience preferred.
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics and P&ID’s.
• Knowledge of Data Control Systems (DCS).
• Experience with 480v and below.
• Must be willing to jump in and assist maintenance and other teams when needed.
• Exposure to multi‑disciplinary maintenance tasks preferred.
• Mechanically inclined is an asset.
• Lift up 50lb, working at heights, confined/tight spaces, stooping, bending, standing for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
