Instrumentation & Electrical Controls Technician

Location: Winchester, KY | Industry: Biodegradable Plastics | Schedule: 10-12 hour shifts (Day or Night Availability Required) | Employment Type: Full-time, Non-exempt.

About the Role

At Danimer Scientific, we’re wiring innovation into everything we do—from sustainable plastics to the precision equipment that makes them. As an Instrumentation & Electrical Controls (IEC) Technician, you’ll help keep our production systems sharp, calibrated, and compliant while playing a key role in the fight against plastic pollution.

What You’ll Do

• Calibrate and maintain process instruments.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, controls, motors, and 3‑phase 480VAC equipment, motors, VFDs, soft starts, MCCs, and switchgear.
• Perform preventative and emergency maintenance and execute fault analysis to prevent recurring equipment failures.
• Ensure safety and compliance across systems, following Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and cGMP protocols.
• Support validation, housekeeping audits, and cross‑functional troubleshooting.
• Document preventive maintenance activities and maintain system logs.
• Train and mentor new or developing IEC technicians.

Shift + Environment

• Full‑time, 12‑hour shifts (day/night). Start‑up flexibility required with availability. Mostly every other weekend off.
• Frequent exposure to hot/cold environments, airborne particles, and mechanical systems.
• Loud environments—hearing protection required in designated areas.
• Some work performed in a shared, air‑conditioned IEC office space.

What You Bring

• Associate degree in Instrumentation/Electrical (preferred).
• Electrical license preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience with industrial instrumentation and controls.
• Knowledge of analog, HART, Fieldbus, DeviceNet, AS‑I, and IP devices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and CMMS software.
• Strong problem‑solving, safety, and communication skills.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks on ladders and in tight spaces.
