Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls engineer to lead P&ID development, instrument selection, and control panel layout. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with disciplines, and help develop PLC/HMI software for startup and commissioning.

The role offers a hybrid work model in the United States, supports global collaboration, and opportunities to work on design-build projects with extensive client interaction.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead development of P&IDs, control narratives, specifications, network drawings, and instrument selection.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for cohesive design.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their growth.
• Develop control system software in PLCs and HMI during project lifecycle, including startup and commissioning.
• Review construction submittals, evaluate sites, and recommend control system upgrades.

• Using your experience, you’ll lead the development of Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), control narratives, specifications, network drawings, panel drawings, and instrument selection.


• You’ll coordinate with other engineering disciplines for a cohesive design.


• You’ll contribute to the development and growth of people (e.g., mentoring junior engineers) both domestically and globally.


• You’ll be able to develop control system software in Programmable Logic Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces, and perform facility startups and commissioning activities.


• You will have the opportunity to review construction submittals, conduct site evaluations, make recommendations for control system upgrades, and communicate effectively with clients and management, enhancing your professional network and experience as you travel.

The base salary range for this position is $105,000.00 to $150,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
