Job summary

Jacobs in Atlanta, GA, seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Controls engineer to lead P&ID development, control narratives, and instrument specification for water/wastewater and plant projects. Travel and collaboration across locations are involved.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with other disciplines, develop PLC/HMI software, review submittals, and support site startups and commissioning.

• Detailed loop wiring diagrams.
• PLC equipment list development.
• Ability to mentor, train, and delegate work domestically and abroad.
• Ability to work outside normal work hours at times to coordinate with global team members.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of P&IDs, control narratives, specifications, network drawings, panel drawings, and instrument selection.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for a cohesive design.
• Develop control system software in PLCs and HMI; perform facility startups and commissioning activities.
• Review construction submittals, conduct site evaluations, and communicate with clients and management.
• Mentor junior engineers and travel to engage with projects across locations.

• You’ll be able to develop control system software in Programmable Logic Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces, and perform facility startups and commissioning activities

Ideally, you’ll also have

• 10+ years' of experience
• Water infrastructure Instrumentation & Controls Systems design experience
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.)
• Experience with PLCs and HMI programming software
• Experience with MCC and VFD control requirements
• Proficiency in Instrumentation and Controls
• Familiarity with onsite startup operations

The base salary range for this position is $105,000.00 to $150,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
