Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Instrumentation and Control Technician for a Queenstown-based facility in the energy sector. The role focuses on installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control systems to ensure safe, reliable plant operation.

You will work with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems, interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics, and perform preventative maintenance per schedules.

Qualifications

• Qualified Artisan (Instrumentation/Control) or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 4 years in industrial instrumentation and control, preferably energy sector.
• Proficient in calibrating and maintaining instrumentation.
• Experience with PLCs, DCS, and industrial networks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain industrial instruments (sensors, transmitters, control valves).
• Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control systems to minimize disruption.
• Perform preventative maintenance on I&C equipment per schedules.
• Work with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems including configuration and basic programming.
• Interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control loop diagrams.
• Ensure safety regulations and quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain a wide range of industrial instruments, including sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
• Troubleshoot and repair faulty instrumentation and control systems, ensuring minimal process disruption.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all I&C equipment according to schedules and procedures.
• Work with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems, including configuration and basic programming.
• Interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control loop diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and quality standards related to instrumentation and control.

Requirements

• Qualified Artisan (Instrumentation/Control) or equivalent technical qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in an industrial instrumentation and control role, preferably within the energy sector .
• Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining various types of instrumentation.
• Experience with PLCs, DCS, and industrial networks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and working in an industrial environment.
