Kerry is seeking an Instrumentation/Controls Engineer at our Niagara Falls, NY site. The role focuses on developing testing protocols, preventive maintenance, and a library for electricians.

You will ensure instrument standards and quality, assist with maintenance scheduling, troubleshoot issues, and help design new control processes in collaboration with Operations and Engineering. IT and security system support may be involved.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and concerns.
  • Support Electricians with technical issues.
  • Evaluate instrumentation and processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Conduct Root Cause analysis.
  • Assist training of production staff as required.
  • Collaborate with Operations/Engineering to design new control processes.
  • Provide control system support to Operations/Engineering.
  • Assist installation of new control processes.
  • Support procurement and budgeting as needed.
  • Provide IT support for plant phones, access control and security systems.

Instrumentation/Controls Engineer Role and Responsibility

  • Development of instrumentation testing protocols procedures.
  • Development of Preventive Maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Development of Resource Library for Electricians.
  • Ensuring instrumentation operation complies with quality parameters.
  • Assist with identifying and scheduling routine/planned maintenance.
  • Assist with troubleshooting any issues or concerns.
  • Assist Electricians with technical issues and concerns.
  • Evaluate existing instrumentation and processes to improve system efficiency and reliability.
  • Conduct Root Cause analysis
  • Assist with training production staff if required.
  • Working with Operations and Engineering to design and develop new control processes.
  • Provide as needed Controls support to Operations and Engineering.
  • Assist with Installation of new control processes.
  • May involve procurement and budgetary responsibility.
  • Provide IT support for plant phones, Access control and Security Systems

Assist Electricians with Installation, maintaining, testing, inspections, diagnose failures and calibration equipment to ensure it is in good working order.

Knowledge of the following instrumentation and controls:

  • Pressure Transmitters
  • Coriolis and Mag Flow Meters:
  • RTD/Thermocouple and controllers
  • Actuated Control valves and Positioners
  • Servo Motors

Skill requirements for instrumentation/Controls engineer

  • Communication – need strong verbal communication skills to work within wider manufacturing team as well as written communication skills for activities such as report compilation and writing training documents.
  • Team working – instrumentation engineers are required to work closely with people across many different departments and at all levels.
  • Attention to detail – even small deviations from expected system performance must be noted and acted upon
