Job summary

The Dupps Company is seeking an Instrument & Controls Technician to join our team in the United States. You will develop PLC and HMI programs for our equipment control systems both in-house and on site, and support field service and spare parts activities.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering, strong PLC/HMI skills (Aveva, Allen-Bradley/Wonderware), and experience with MRP/ERP systems. Travel up to 60% and passport readiness are required.

• Experience with MRP/BOM in ERP environments.
• Proficient with AutoCAD; Inventor and 3D CAD software a plus.

• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop PLC and HMI programs for equipment control systems, in-house and in the field.
• Assist Customer Service with field problems and spare parts quotations by researching product history.
• Respond to technical information requests and review engineering requirements on sales orders.
• Create single-line diagrams and electrical schematics; design site plans for motor and device layouts.
• Travel to sites for installations and start-up interface; provide lean design improvements.

The Dupps Company is seeking an Instrument & Controls Technician.

What Will You Be Doing?

• PLC Programming & HMI Programming for Dupps equipment control system; both in house and in the field.
• Research history of previously supplied products to assist Customer Service with field problems and Spare Parts quotations.
• Respond to customer requests for technical information on products previously supplied.
• Review Sales Orders for major products and confirm Engineering requirements.
• Designated backup for Electrical Draftsman for performing basic sizing and power requirement calculations.
• Design single-line diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Create electrical site plans including motor / device locations and layouts.
• Designated backup for Electrical Draftsman for developing panel and electrical gear layouts.
• Review Engineering Change Orders prepared by CAD Designers as related to Electrical Department.
• Review drawings and bills of materials prepared by CAD Designers as related to Electrical Department.
• Assist Purchasing Department with queries related to material specifications as related to Electrical Department.
• Analyze product failures and recommend solutions and improvements.
• Analyze products and recommend cost reduction design improvements for Lean Manufacturing as related to Electrical Department.
• Site Travel for Customer/Contractor Instillation Interface and Start-Up Assistance as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

What Will You Need to Succeed?

• Must be eligible to work in the USA without current or future sponsorship.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or similar field preferred.
• Must have experience with PLC/HMI programming (preferably Aveva and Allen-Bradley/Wonderware).
• Experience using MRP software for bills of material.
• Must be able to travel up to 60% of time. Travel could be for multiple weeks at a time.
• Experience in using AutoCAD and 3D software – preferred.
• Experience with Inventor is a plus.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel & Word.
• Experience with EPICOR is a plus.
• Experience with VR Software (Ansys) a plus.
• Field Service background is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
• Must have or be able to obtain a passport.
